ISTANBUL

Arrive in Istanbul and drive to Izmir. Overnight at bus.
DAY 2 IZMIR
Early morning arrival and transfer to hotel, free time at leisure. Afternoon half day city tour includes :
Clock tower, built in the 19th century by Sultan Hamid. Archaeology museum,
with an extensive collection of artifacts from the region. Kadifekale, the Mt.Pagus, on top of which are some of
the fortifications built by the Byzantine and Ottoman. Return to hotel and overnight.

ANKARA
Did you know...
1 - The number of archaelogical excavations going on in Turkey every year is at least 150.
2 - The oldest known human settlement is in Çatalhöyük, Turkey (7500 B.C.).
3 - The oldest cadastral plan/map ever found date backs to 6200 B.C. is at Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara (keeping in mind that writing was still another 2700 years away from being developed)
4 - Writing was first used by people in ancient Anatolia. The first clay tablets - in the ruins of Assyrian Karum (merchant colony) - date back to 1950 B.C.
5 - Female deities dominated the Central Anatolian pantheon for thousands of years before these supernatural powers were transferred to male gods.
6 - Greek Prime Minister Venizelos nominated Turkish President Atatürk for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1934.

DAY 1 HOME/ISTANBUL/ANKARA

DAY 2 ANKARA
Full day city tour includes : world-wide famous Anatolian Civilizations Museum at which there are numerous remnants from Stone Age, Neolithic Age, Urartians, Hittites, Urartians, Phrygians and many others. Citadel of Ankara and the Mausoleum of Atatürk, the burial place of the national hero who founded modern Republic of Turkey. Return to hotel and overnight.
DAY 3 ANKARA / HATTUSAS / ANKARA
After breakfast drive 210 km to Hattusas that was the capital of the Hittites for a long time. Before visiting the main capital proceed to Yazılıkaya to see the open air sanctuary as the sun light comes on the bas-reliefs direct in the morning. After lunch visit to the capital of Hattusas with Lion’s Gate, Tunnel, King’s Gate, Citadel and Grand Temple. Then drive back to Ankara transfer to hotel and overnight.
DAY 4 ANKARA / GORDION / ISTANBUL
After breakfast drive to Gordion (approximately 100 km) that was the capital of the Phyrigians. Visit to the Acropolis and then to the Local Museum in which there are some remnants from the surroundings though the main findings are on display in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara. Finally step in to the Tumulus in which the tomb of the King Midas is located. Then visit Gavurkalesi, one of the cult centers of Hittites, and drive back to Ankara and transfer to bus station. Late night departure from Amraka, overnight at bus.
DAY 5 ISTANBUL / HOME
Morning arrival to Istanbul meet assist to airport for flighback to home or your hotel in Istanbul.
